Ethiopian Airlines voted best in Africa for third consecutive year

Fiji's National Airline, Fiji Airways has been awarded the coveted Skytrax 4-Star rating at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards in Paris, joining a select group of elite airlines in this prestigious category.

AirAsia won best low-priced airline, with the UK's EasyJet coming in second place.

Airline chief executives from all over the world gathered at the 19 World Airline Awards Event held at Paris Air Show yesterday (June 18) to receive their accolades voted for by customers.

It did, however, nab the titles of Asia's Best Airline and World's Best Cabin Crew.

In other categories AirAsia (20 best globally) was named World's Best Low-Cost Airline with AirAsia X coming fifth in this nomination and second among World's Best Long Haul Low-Cost.

Unfortunately for Britain, no United Kingdom airlines made the list of top 10 airlines.

The Middle Eastern carrier pipped Singapore Airlines - last year's victor - to the gong, with Japan's All Nippon Airways completing the podium. Japan's All-Nippon Airways received the World's Best Airport Services award.

He says it has been a four-year improvement journey to raise the airline to a 4-Star airline status, after massive investments in customer experience, improvement in the product, and enhancing the service culture and standards through the UP! The remaining top ten were: Taiwanese airline EVA Air, Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines, flag airline of Australia Qantas Airways, Lufthansa and Thai Airways.

The rankings are based on surveys done by global travellers and more than 21 million votes were counted in this year's survey, which was operated from September 2018 to May 2019.

According to Skytrax's Edward Plaisted, "To be named as the World's Best Airline is a great recognition of Qatar Airways high standards, and recognises the hard work and dedication from every member of staff to satisfy customers".
