But on waking, she found she had been left behind.

According to the post, Adams was flying from Quebec to Toronto Pearson International Airport when she fell asleep, aided by the fact that she'd ended up with a whole row of seats to herself.

Almost two weeks ago Tiffany Adams says she had to be rescued from an Air Canada plane after she fell asleep and woke up alone hours later.

Once she got to the airport, a representative from Air Canada asked O'Brien if she was okay and offered her a limo and a hotel, which she wrote that she declined.

The panicked passenger called a friend but her phone died within about a minute of the call.

The stranded passenger attempted to charge her phone but the power on the plane had ben switched off.

After finding a torch in the cockpit, she managed to open one of the doors but faced a 15-metre drop to get out of the plane. Adams states that her flight was short, only 1.5 hours long, and when she awoke from her slumbers, the plane had already landed hours ago.

Ms Adams said being forgotten on the plane had left her with recurring "night terrors".

Air Canada confirmed Ms Adams' account to multiple publications and said it was reviewing the incident.

"As someone with an anxiety disorder as is I can tell you how terrifying this was". But Adams said she just wanted to go home.

"We are still reviewing this matter so we have no additional details to share, but we have followed up with the customer and remain in contact with her", the airline said in a statement.

How would you react if you woke in a dark, empty and locked aircraft with a mobile that is switched off?

"When I see the luggage cart driving towards me I am literally dangling my legs out of the plane".

"I wake up around midnight, few hours after [the] flight landed, freezing cold still strapped in my seat in complete darkness", Adams said in the post.

Air Canada confirmed that the passenger had been left on the plane and was investigating how it could have happened.

Adams, who struggles with anxiety and insomnia, said the experience was so frightening she immediately suffered a panic attack, with no cellphone battery to summon help and no idea how long she'd locked away for.

With the help of the light, she said she was able to unlock a door, but couldn't exit because there was a 40- to 50-foot space between her and the ground.
