Sony won't hesitate if the path they're walking requires more content of high importance.

"We have been in the game business for 25 years and have big assets", Ryan said.

With the PS5 release rumoured for November 2020, a new report has claimed that format holder Sony is looking to snap up a number of new developers under the PlayStation umbrella as it gears up for the launch of its next-generation console. According to him, it'd be hard for new entrants in the market to compete in terms of studios and exclusive games.

Japan restricts exports to South Korea over wartime labour row
South Korea hosts mobile and TV manufacturing giants, like the Samsung Electronics Co., the SK Hynix Inc. and the LG Display Co. Japan, produces about 90% of the fluorine polyimide and 70 % of the etching gas in the world.

Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment president disclosed that he is looking at acquisition or merger from other game studios and developers.

Sony is considering acquiring more development studios as it gears up for the launch of PS5. This all comes hot on the heels of Microsoft having a bumper year for new purchases, picking up seven new studios across 2018-2019. Sony, in order to have more people buy the PlayStation 5 will have to create more exclusive contents. Microsoft has taken a lot of criticism for its handling of first-party IPs and squandering potential franchises-as opposed to Sony's immaculate lineup of God of War, The Last of Us, and Uncharted to name just a few-but it has also brought several studios under its belt the past couple of years, most recently Double Fine Productions.

Rumours of Sony buying EA or Rockstar have been floated in the past year or so, neither or which would seem likely, EA would be a massive headache as Federation Internationale de Football Association and Disney wouldn't be pleased when their games are limited to one console. "In the past, every time we transitioned to a new game console, we have made a deficit with development costs", Ryan said, although he was unable to go into specifics about the new generation of hardware. "We have a small team there, but I think we can do more".
