Famed Hollywood actor Rip Torn dead at age 88

The actor's publicist Rick Miramontez confirmed the news that he died on Tuesday after at his home with his wife, actress Amy Wright and his daughters by his side, reports The Guardian.

Born Elmore Rual Torn Jr.in 1931, the celebrated actor's career spanned sixty years and included appearances on television, in films and in Broadway and off-Broadway theatrical productions.

The Oscar and Tony award nominee and Emmy victor died at his home surrounded by his wife and two daughters. In 1996, Torn won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

As for some of his other film roles, he also starred in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, The Cincinnati Kid, Airplane II, Heartland, and many more. Torn. Thank you for everything.

Rip Torn's final acting role was in 2013 for the TV series TripTank, voicing the character M. He was previously married to the actress Geraldine Page, with whom he had three children, and Ann Wedgeworth, with whom he also had a child. Will took to his Instagram page to pay tribute to his co-star. The actor is survived by sister Patricia, and his grandchildren Elijah, Tana, Emeris and Hannah.
