A Spanish court has ruled that the pop star Julio Iglesias is the biological father of a 42-year-old man whose mother said she had a brief affair with the singer in the 1970s.

Javier Sanchez-Santos, who claims to be the son of award-winning Spaniard Julio Iglesias, arrives to appear before a court in Valencia for a paternity case at City of Justice in Valencia July 4, 2019.

75-year-old Iglesias - the father of singer Enrique Iglesias - had refused to provide DNA, but the judge said there was an "obvious physical resemblance". She provided "very specific data on the property, location and interior layout of the villa" where Julio Iglesias was staying at that time, the judge said.

During the trial, former ballerina Edite claimed that she and Iglesias spent one week together in Sant Feliu de Guíxols on the Costa Brava in 1975, and that Santos was born nine months later.

The new trial began after lawyer Fernando Osuna argued that new DNA evidence from the USA by an investigator was a 99.9% match.

While cricketers are susceptible to criticism from pundits and fans alike there's no denying that they don't get affected by it. Yet it is that result and performance that propelled the hosts back into life.

Santos's lawyer, Fernando Osuna, revealed that DNA testing indicated that his client and Iglesias Jr are brothers.

Iglesias plans to appeal the ruling and said the case should never have gone forward because it had been previously dismissed.

Iglesias is known for his romantic ballads and a prolific love life that has always been fodder for tabloid headlines.

The DNA evidence collected by the private detective came from a water bottle that had been used by the "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" singer's son Julio Iglesias Junior while he was surfing in Miami. He has sold over 300 million albums in his decades-long career.

'Don't ask me how many brothers I have, ' Julio Jr said in 2018 on television.
