The possible truth about the Laurent Koscielny saga

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for the clubs pre-season tour. The Frenchman, who is now captain of the North London club, came to them from Lorient in Ligue 1 as a raw defender lacking in physical attributes, but over the years, turned into one of the most coveted centre-backs in the Premier League.

However, Laurent Koscielny is now desperate to leave Arsenal, a club which he has captained for four years.

This has come at unexpected time as Laurent Koscielny has over the years showed that he is a humble person and a proper Arsenal man but it looks like things are about to get messy for him in the eyes of the Arsenal supporters as him refusing to travel to United States of America with the rest of the squad shows that he wants to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

"We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any future comment at his time".

Unai Emery will have to potentially replace Laurent Koscielny for the upcoming season. A £27 million (€34m) deal has been agreed for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba, but he will spend the coming season back in France on loan with his former club.

The Sun is reporting that the Gunners are trying to persuade Malcom to delay a move to Goodison Park while they negotiate with the Spanish club.

Due to Koscielny's age and injury record, Arsenal's offer involved a lower basic salary than his current £120,000-per-week and included performance-related bonuses.

In a statement released shortly after the incident, Arsenal said: "We are working closely with Bochum and Jordi and we are giving him our full support".

The Gunners' plan was to let his contract run down and then allow him to leave on a free next summer, but with Koscielny seemingly attempting to cut ties, this is now looking less likely.
