Atlanta residents who were cruising along the I-285 on Tuesday night got more than they bargained for when a truck spilled open and dolla dolla bills began to rain down on the interstate.

"Last night around 8:00 PM, Dunwoody officers responded to the area of I-285 west and Ashford Dunwoody Road regarding money flying all over the road", the Dunwoody Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Police say that the side door of an armored truck came open while the vehicle was driving on the interstate, sending money spilling out onto the roadway. Taking the money was technically theft, the department wrote on Facebook, though they could "certainly understand the temptation". "Officers and the truck crew gathered a few hundred dollars that was still there when officers arrived, but plenty was taken by passerby's sticky fingers".

In their post, Dunwoody Police Department urged people to return the cash they had picked up. The first thing I did was I pulled over and started picking up some money.

Twitter suffers widespread outage, shares down
The microblogging platform confirmed the service disruption on Thursday but has yet to provide more detailed information. We've reached out to Twitter for comment on the outage and will update this story when we hear back.

"I waited until this morning to see if there was a report out, and I saw it on the news. Everybody started pulling over and it was insane". "We understand that all of the money is not going to be recovered", Parsons said.

Speaking to CNN, he said: "It took me a minute to realise it wasn't leaves". "We understand it was a freakish occurrence, but do the right thing and return the money", the post added. Authorities also pleaded with drivers to return the money in that case, and threatened to track people down if they did not.

But he ultimately made a decision to return the money after seeing news reports calling the incident "stealing", WXIA reported. But it wasn't exactly a display of public-spiritedness-they were grabbing cash that had fallen out of an armored truck.
