Twitter is now experiencing a widespread service outage that is preventing some users from logging into accounts and sending tweets.

Tweetdeck, the social media dashboard web application acquired by Twitter during May 2011, is also down, with a "Sorry, something went wrong".

Users across the world were unable to access their Twitter feeds and profiles on Thursday evening, amidst concerns that the social media giant had crashed again.

According to website DownDetector.com, Twitter began experiencing issues around 6.46am.

The issues appear to be taking place worldwide, but most reports are coming from the east coast of the United States and the United Kingdom, with a handful of complaints coming from eastern Europe, Malaysia and Australia. The microblogging platform confirmed the service disruption on Thursday but has yet to provide more detailed information.

Reddit experienced some outages earlier in the day, according to The Independent.
