Tottenham have joined the race to sign William Saliba from Saint-Etienne ahead of Arsenal this summer, according to BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein.

Saliba, a France Under-20 worldwide, joined Saint-Etienne in 2016 and is one of the game's most highly-rated young centre-backs.

The report states the 18-year-old has already agreed to a five-year contract with the Gunners and just has a few minor details to sort out.

However, Tottenham have made a last-ditch attempt to secure the services of the France Under-20 worldwide by offering a marginally better deal.

But Spurs have been monitoring the situation and have now allegedly submitted an offer which is more than that from Arsenal.

Missing teen mystery deepens as Vatican dig reveals empty graves
Members of their families, Orlandi's, and forensics scientists and Vatican police were all present as the tombs were unsealed. There were renovations carried out in the cemetery at the end of the 1800's, and then again in the 1960s and 1970s.

The youngster is expected to continue his development at Saint-Etienne for a further season as the Ligue 1 outfit are demanding a loan to be included in the deal, which could ultimately benefit Tottenham if they were to acquire him.

The two clubs are scheduled to hold a meeting on Saturday as Tottenham look to spoil Arsenal's plans to land the young talent.

Arsenal had delved deep in negotiations for the €30m rated defender but Saint-Étienne were unable to accept the payment structure suggested by Arsenal. So, should they be spending more than €30m on a teenage defender who will go back out on loan?

Spurs may well be preparing for life without Toby Alderweireld.

Manchester United have also been linked with the Benfica centre-back, who has a release clause of £54m.
