Mark Reilly and John Rocha react to and review the first trailer for Top Gun: Maverick which debuted at San Diego Comic Con 2019.

"It's one of life's mysteries, sir", Maverick says.

The original Top Gun received mixed reviews but was a huge commercial hit. He'll be mentoring a new generation of pilots, including Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late partner and best friend Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards). The film is now directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously worked with Cruise in the sci-fi adventure Oblivion.

Tensions ratcheted up as protesters burst through a barricade at the governor's mansion. Instead, the Oasis-class vessel will sail towards her next scheduled call at St.

The trailer opens with Ed Harris's character, a high-ranking military official, telling Cruise's pilot he is a "dinosaur" in the modern world of aviation. The stunts in this trailer far outstrip anything we saw in the original movie and feature many sensuous shots of the F/A-18 Super Hornet. Val Kilmer is reprising Thomas "Iceman" Kazansky, who is a commander now. The Mad Men alum added, "We're shooting the movie in, I think, 6K". Basically get your memberberries out because you're going to be "membering" a whole bunch of stuff from the first film. I still haven't recovered from Goose's death in the original.

Cruise was met with rapturous applause during a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic Con, the annual pop culture convention. The upcoming film, slated for release on June 26, 2020 in the USA, is likely entering the final stages of its production phase before going to post-production and editing.
