Pep Guardiola will place little significance on Manchester City's Premier League Asia Trophy final defeat to Wolves on penalties.

Wolves won the exhibition tournament 3-2 on penalties after the game against the Premier League champions ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The England worldwide was in electric form in the opening exchanges but failed to cap a fine start with a goal when he fired over the bar from the penalty spot just before the midway point of the first half.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he hopes Leroy Sane stays at the club, adding Bayern Munich have been talking about their interest in the winger "for a long time".

Nuno said: "The week has gone OK".

Raheem Sterling blazed over from 12 yards in normal time and City players then saw three penalties saved as they were beaten by Wolves in a shoot-out in Shanghai.

Guardiola admits that Kompany's departure leaves a void at the club.

'No-deal' Brexit dealt blow by United Kingdom parliament
The Office of Budget Responsibility warned this week that a no-deal Brexit would require an additional £30bn in government borrowing.

"He's been top", said Guardiola, who finally appears to be recovering from the jet lag that soured his mood at the start of City's pre-season tour.

I don't know if the players here will stay or if new players will come, but I am delighted with the players we have.

The England worldwide forward, playing through the middle, then fluffed a golden chance from close range with only goalkeeper Patricio to beat.

The 58-year-old, whose appointment has gone down badly with already disillusioned Newcastle fans, was unable to be pitch-side because of Chinese visa restrictions.

Yoshinori Muto bagged the game's only goal in the 34th minute.

"Everybody, not just the young players, made a good performance and we learn from that".

The Premier League champions arrived in China two days late because of red tape related to their flight, which is likely to have infuriated a perfectionist like the Spaniard.
