Keith Thurman sends ideal tweet after loss to Manny Pacquiao

Thurman had vowed to beat the 40-year old Filipino into retirement, but he was behind from the first round at the MGM Grand.

The seventh round saw Thurman start to take back some ground in the fight as Pacquiao took several shots top the jaw but withstood the punches from the American, leaving many in wonderment at how tough the Filipino's jaw is.

The eight-division world champion said he will now return to the Philippines to resume his work as a senator before deciding on his next move inside the ring.

Rep. Mikee Romero of 1-PACMAN on Sunday called on Congress to pass the Philippine Boxing Commission Act, shortly after Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao won another world title in Las Vegas.

In Pacquiao's heyday, authorities said his fights stopped traffic and crime.

"I knew it was too close", Thurman said.

Thurman continued to come on strong in the seventh round, whacking Pacquiao with right hands and leaving him with swelling by his right temple.

"He got the knockdown so he had momentum in round one". Thurman had been eager to retire Pacquiao, but he couldn't hurt the ageless wonder. I wish I had a little bit more output to go toe to toe.
