Two policemen martyred as terrorists attack check-post in DI Khan

No group claimed the attack yet, in another incident on Sunday morning, some unidentified gunmen opened fire at a police check post in the region and killed two police personnel.

A burqa-clad female suicide bomber on Sunday morning killed four people and injured several others at the main gate of the Trauma Centre of District Headquarter Hospital in Kotlan Syedan on the outskirts of the northwestern city of Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Iftikhar Shah said that the second attack took place at a hospital where policemen were recruiting their injured colleagues.

According to eye witnesses, the bomber was wearing a head-to-toe veil. He confirmed seven fatalities, in both the terror act.

AFP further reported that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Muhammad Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to local media. The police and civil administration reached the spot immediately after the explosion.

The death toll may rise over the coming hours as at least 26 more people including eight policemen were injured in the explosion.

Police and relief workers rushed to the hospital after the blast and security men cordoned off the premises. Hence the woman suicide bomber got through.

Dera Ismail Khan is considered as gateway to North Waziristan and South Waziristan district which were once hotbed of militants.
