AMD unleashes next-gen processor chip, lands Google, Twitter as customers

It competes with Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) which has been a dominant force in the data center space and in the PC processor market for many years to supply chips that act as the main computing brains for PCs, servers, gaming and artificial intelligence. These processors set a new standard for the modern datacenter with breakthrough performance, advanced features, and embedded security protection to help defend against attacks to the CPU, applications and data. For HPC, 2nd Gen AMD EPYC processors offer an unmatched combination of record-setting floating point performance and the most DRAM memory and I/O bandwidth in its class to supercharge HPC workloads, including up to 2x better performance in computational fluid dynamics and up to 72 percent higher performance structural analysis.
