In Formula 1's "silly season" rumours circulate about where drivers will end up the following campaign and beyond, and even the best drivers on the grid are not immune to the speculation.

Red Bull say they will "use the next nine races to evaluate Alex's performance" and make a "decision as to who will drive alongside Max in 2020".

"Everyone at the team looks forward to welcoming Alex and supporting him during the next phase of his F1 career".

"Red Bull are in the unique position of having four talented Formula One drivers under contract who can be rotated between Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso".

The London-born Thai driver has consistently impressed this season, although it is Kvyat, himself a former Red Bull driver, who has scored the majority of Toro Rosso's points to date. The 23-year old has piloted that team's Honda-powered cars with aplomb, finishing sixth in the wet at the German Grand Prix in late July, and he has amassed 16 points in a lesser vehicle compared to the Aston Martin cars.

The Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is on September 1 and is the first race after Formula One's August break.

Albon's promotion and Gasly's return to Roro Rosso follows a disappointing first half of the season for the Frenchman marked by his struggles and inability to perform on the same level as teammate Max Verstappen.

For starters, both Christian Horner and Helmut Marko assured the media that Pierre Gasly is good enough for RBR despite the subpar performance of the French racing driver. Expectations will be kept in check with Albon, however, as the 2019 season is his first in F1 and he was only drafted into Toro Rosso at relatively late notice over the winter.

Want your voice heard? It follows a tough season for Gasly alongside Max Verstappen - and a stellar one for rookie Albon partnering Daniil Kvyat.
