Microsoft's Chromium-Based Edge Beta Now Available for Windows, macOS

Earlier this year, Microsoft shipped the first canary builds of its new Edge browser that is based on Google's Chromium rendering engine.

The company has been releasing new Canary builds nearly every day, and the Dev channel is consistently getting new builds every week.

Additionally, users will also benefit from websites that use single sign-on.

Microsoft Edge Beta is the final preview channel available before the stable version of the browser will be launched.

I've been testing the Canary Edge build since April, and I've found it to be a huge upgrade over the last version of Edge.

"We're going to beta today since our browser bits are now hitting the criteria we're expecting: our data says the browse is reliable, compatible, has good battery life. and is fast", said Joe Belfiore, CVP of Microsoft Windows Experiences, in an interview with Engadget.

Snark aside, Microsoft really wants researchers to start thumping Chromium Edge, and has stated that a 2X multiplier is available via the Researcher Recognition Program and the company will pay out as soon the reproduction and assessment has been completed of each submission. There's also support for 14 languages onboard. To date, there have been more than one million downloads of our preview builds, across all supported versions of Windows and Mac, from which we have received more than 140,000 individual pieces of feedback.

The Microsoft Edge Insider Bounty Program will run beside the Microsoft Edge (EdgeHTML) on Windows Insider Preview bounty program and all "vulnerabilities that reproduce in the latest, fully patched version of Windows (including Windows 10, Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1) or macOS may be eligible".
