Popeyes has created the new war over chicken sandwiches

The frozen chicken sandwiches, released under the chain's Member's Mark brand, feature a breaded chicken fillet served on a soft baked bun.

Popeyes introduced its sandwich only recently, on August 12.

With that in mind, Chick-fil-A tweeted out a message which, based on the timing, was seemingly directed at Popeyes.

"Popeyes caught wind of the tweet and simply responded by saying, "... y'all good?"

In one corner, we have chicken sandwich veteran Chick-fil-A, whose longtime slogan boasts, "We didn't invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich".

The tweets did not go unnoticed as many chimed in on social media with their thoughts on the tweets and which fast-food restaurant is offering the best chicken sandwich.

World Rugby introduce "gender neutral" names for flagship tournaments
World Rugby has rebranded its men's and women's World Cups in an effort to achieve gender neutrality in the sport. Unintentional gender bias in sport is an ongoing issue.

Sam's Club isn't chickening out when it comes to competing with a certain popular fast food chain.

But Wendy's came back with an even harder hit, this time at the expense of Popeyes' other menu items.

In its "fun facts" section of its website, Chick-fil-A says the "top secret" recipe for the signature chicken sandwich is "hidden in a safe at the Chick-fil-A office in Atlanta, Ga".

Now, I haven't tried the new Popeyes sandwich yet, but at the very least, the early reviews for the new sandwich have me intrigued - especially the jokes coming in from the sports world.

After all, we didn't invent the Twitter debate, but we are here for it.
