Ole 'lost for words' after racist abuse of Rashford

United had beaten Chelsea 4-0 in their opening game of the season, but their light-hearted tweet aged very badly after the team went on to lose to Roy Hodgson's outfit. I thought we got our act together second half, we just couldn't hit the target.

Speaking before United's Premier League loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, Solskjaer called for "authorities to do something" about the problem. "It's just insane that we talk about this in 2019".

Manchester United have missed penalties in back-to-back games, but Solskjaer feels that is part and parcel of the game. A search of Rashford's name on Twitter in the minutes after his missed penalty kick showed several abusive messages with the word N***** in it. "If we score them it's a different story".

Solskjaer said he was also frustrated by referee Paul Tierney's decision to punish Gary Cahill with just a yellow card in the first half after he pulled back Anthony Martial when the Frenchman looked to be through on goal. But that was a goal of United's own making.

However, Marcus Rashford stepped up and failed to convert from the spot-kick. At least there had been no argument about the taker this time.

The Boston Celtics point guard finished with 22 points, while Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes added 20. They will play each team one time, with the top-two teams in the group advancing to the second round.

Both of those runs have now been brought to an end, with Van Aanholt firing a late drive through David de Gea to seal a memorable success.

Aaron takes aim at a certain ex-Palace man, who was on the losing side today.

Instead, the manager should consider whether his vaunted backing of a young and - against Palace, too often naive - attack might hold him back in his first full season in charge.

This is not quite the time for panic at United.

But Solskjaer would do well to look very closely at this 2-1 scoreline, at how his team contrived to hand victory to their opponents as they chased a victor themselves, and give very serious thought to how he can stop it happening again.
