Thursday Night's contest was another example of why the National Football League should limit, or even eliminate preseason games and just allow teams to have more practice time, scrimmages, and joint practices.

Winnipeg was officially announced as the host city of the Week 3 preseason game on June 5, but all parties unofficially knew months in advance of that date.

The CFL plays with goalposts in the end zone. Rodgers hasn't played in the pre-season, including last week when he had tightness in his back. Cody Williams of NFL Spin Zone gives his analysis of the game. They filled all that and covered it with turf, but I guess it wasn't good enough because it was slightly raised and not stable according to the people we talked to.

Among the other injuries worth monitoring: Packers first-round pick Rashan Gary left during Thursday's game with a neck injury, but he assured fans there's no reason for concern.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says about 20 percent of people bitten by infected mosquitoes get sick. The county's Health and Human Services office said Thursday the mosquitoes were south of Lake Mary Road in Flagstaff.

Friesen says Jon Gruden and the Raiders didn't have a problem with the field, but it was the Packers who demanded it too unsafe to play on, which ultimately triggered them deciding the playing surface was only going to be 80 yards. While there is still one preseason game remaining, this game may have been the one that could cement the status of several players. "We liked the field".

Green Bay rested 33 players on the day, including starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, due to field safety hazards and a reduced field.

Promoter John Graham, president of On Ice Entertainment Ltd. that was in charge of the field conversion, told The Canadian Press in a text message that he'd "like to wait" before making a comment. "This puts food on the table for them, so you don't want to mess around with injuries".

Tim Boyle, Rodgers' backup, threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Davis and a 26-yarder to Jake Kumerow. "I kind of heard some rumblings that it wasn't going to be packed". All they're trying to do is go by the rulebook, which has made it seemingly impossible for defenses to stop the offense.
