Players want trades away from tanking Dolphins

Brown is from the Liberty City section of Miami and the Patriots play the Dolphins, Sunday at 1 p.m.in South Florida. "We just acquired him yesterday", Belichick said on a conference call with Miami-area reporters.

After the team was dismantled at home by the Baltimore Ravens in a 59-10 rout, multiple players have reportedly requested to be traded amidst the franchise's apparent attempt to tank this season and plan for the future.

No matter how much this season is about getting a high pick in the 2020 National Football League draft and selecting their future franchise quarterback, there were significant portions of Sunday's game where Miami simply wasn't competitive.

Daniel Kilgore, for one, wouldn't be sad to see them go. "I think for us, we just need to focus on what's going on inside our building and not worry about anything going on outside".

Dombrowski's hire was seen as a win-now move - he aggressively built an American League champion club in Detroit previously. He was also the one who hired Red Sox manager Alex Cora right before the 2018 season.

A big part of that acclimation process will be spending time with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who, like Belichick, has witnessed Brown's ability to exploit defenses as a member of the Steelers.

"We'll see how it goes as we go forward, but certainly we've always had the same concept in terms of our run game, pass game, our offense in general", McDaniels said.

New England also announced the release of Lance Kendricks and Obi Melifonwu.
