The NHC added that "swells generated by Humberto are expected to affect the northwestern Bahamas, and the coast of the USA from east-central Florida to North Carolina during the next few days".

The National Hurricane Center's 11 p.m. advisory says Humberto is up to 75 mph sustained winds, about 785 miles west of Bermuda, moving north at 3 mph.

Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form within the next two to three days while the system moves slowly west-northwestward to northwestward.

The majority of the showers, thunderstorms and strongest winds associated with Humberto were skewed to the north and east of the storm's center, which has largely spared the areas of the northern Bahamas that were hit by Hurricane Dorian, said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist, in a report filed September 15.

Tropical Storm Humberto has become a potential threat to Bermuda with movement projected on an easterly curve after moving north through the Bahamas.

Hurricane Humberto got stronger on Monday morning as it headed away from the United States - and possibly toward Bermuda.

Yankees-Red Sox Series Heats up AL East Race
The New York Yankees won the series, winning 8-1, losing 11-0, and winning 11-1 to make up some ground on their rivals. Despite sitting on top for much of the season, the Boston Red Sox are expected to lose steam as the season progresses.

The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour (137 kph) as of Monday morning.

Aside from generating rough surf and rip currents along the Florida and Southeast coast, Humberto is not anticipated to produce significant storm impacts in the United States. The storm is expected to turn east and head out to sea.

Great Abaco Island and Grand Bahama Island, which were devastated by Hurricane Dorian earlier this month, have already experienced heavy gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast through Wednesday, when the eye of the storm is expected to be out in the open Atlantic.

Hurricane season runs through November.
