While wins in the Creative Arts awards don't necessarily point toward Primetime successes, it's hard to imagine the big winners here this weekend won't be taking home some more gold come next Sunday. When the quote-unquote "real" Emmy Awards go out next Monday, the episode has three more chances to add to its total thanks to nominations in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (for Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (for Maisie Williams as Arya Stark) and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series categories.

Randy Rainbow, who this year received his first Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Short Form Variety Series category, lost out to Carpool Karaoke: The Series. "Queer Eye" won four awards.

In other creative arts categories, Game of Thrones also won trophies for score, title design and stunt coordination. Taking after the Oscars's decision to go host-less past year, the Emmys will not have a host this go around.

Held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Sept. 14 and 15, the annual event honors outstanding artistic and technical achievement in a variety of television program genres, guest performances in weekly series, as well as exceptional work in animation, reality and documentary categories. It was the sixth series win for VFX supervisor Joe Bauer while VFX producer Steve Kullback and VFX associate producer Adam Chazen - who have been with the series since season one - now have seven Emmys each for the HBO fantasy series.

In joint second place among the many wins had been Chernobyl and Free Solo-every choosing up seven awards, which suggests the latter, with a complete of 19 noms throughout the board, could do properly with its Primetime choice.

Kirby's win follows a diverse list of credits that include TV series "The Deuce", "Rectify" and "Tell Me You Love Me", as well as Canadian features "Take This Waltz" and "The Stone Angel".
