Marc Gasol added 14 points on his way to becoming the second player to win a NBA Title and a FIBA Gold Medal in the same year.

France erased a 15-point second-half deficit to come back and defeat Australia 67-59 to capture the bronze medal. And he's the first to accomplish that feat while representing a nation other than the U.S.

Wing-pivot veteran Luis Scola, the only member of the current Argentine team to win the silver medal at the 2002 World Cup and gold at the 2004 Olympic Games, reached 41 games in world basketball cups and matched the Brazilian Bira's mark. Yet Rubio's scoring picked up along with the stakes, scoring a steady 19.8 points per game through the last four game, becoming that steady scoring presence to navigate them through the latter stages of competition. They ran out to a quick 14-2 lead, only to have Argentina answer with an 11-0 spurt. The Australian squad got off to a fast start with a 30-21 lead at the half, but France battled back and managed a 25-13 advantage in the fourth quarter to arise victorious.

The 39-year-old power forward, his jet-black hair now flecked with grey at the temples, was kept well-shackled throughout, and it was late in the third quarter before he notched up his first point from the free throw line. Argentina then beat France in the semi-final. They were better. They deserved to win. Ribas revived Spain with 5 straight points and Llull's layup put the Spanish side up 14-23 after 10 minutes.

Police had turned down the march permit, but the demonstrators were undeterred, as they have been all summer. He said police will step up enforcement, and that "everyone is a loser" with the persistent violence.

Argentina won their third FIBA World Cup medal, making them the fifth nations with the most trophy after the U.S. with 12, Yugoslavia 10, Soviet Union 8 and Brazil 6. It'll be Spain against Argentina on Sunday, with both nations looking for their second title. Nicolas Laprovittola scored a team-high 9 points for Argentina at the break. The 2019 World Cup was Gasol turn, three months after lying hands-on NBA Larry O'Brien Trophy for the first time.

"And we're certainly not going to forget about this World Cup campaign". Soviet Union 3 and Brazil became champions 2 times.

Gasol also became the 19th to win either an National Basketball Association or WNBA crown along with a gold medal, either of the Olympic or World Cup variety, in the same year. They did, at least, qualify to defend their Olympic title in Tokyo next summer.
