Visit to Wapakoneta follows state dinner

Morrison is the second world leader to be hosted for a state dinner during the almost three years of Trump administration. That's the heart of a whistleblower complaint against the president.

Earlier in the day, the Morrisons were welcomed to the White House by the First couple with an official reception hosted on the front lawn of the White House.

He also said the Rose Garden state dinner "will be quite something".

She stood alongside her husband as the duo honored the Australian prime minister on the South Lawn of the White House with full military honors, including hundreds of members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Among the guests were prominent Australians and top USA officials, including golf great Greg Norman, celebrity chef Curtis Stone, billionaire businessman Kerry Stokes, News Lachlan Murdoch, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

As he arrived in Washington on Thursday night, Morrison said he looked forward to celebrating 100 years of "mateship" between the USA and Australia.

The event features an worldwide team competing against a United States team and is held every two years. But the names of some of those who plan to attend have trickled out, including Australian golfer Greg Norman, a friend and sometime golf partner of Trump's; Republican Sen.

Morrison, who has been in office for a little over a year, thanked Trump for the "tremendous honor". Melania Trump directed the overall look and feel of the dinner, which took several months to coordinate, from the menu of sunchoke ravioli and Dover sole, to the green and gold décor motif (inspired by Australia's national colors, ) the floral centerpieces of roses and golden wattle (the visiting country's symbolic flower, ) and the entertainment, which included the US Army Strings ensemble, who lined up single file to perform along the lengthy West Wing Colonnade.

President Donald Trump later said in the welcoming ceremony that "today we celebrate the long, cherished, and unwavering friendship between the United States and Australia".

Trump continued his musings about the dinner potentially being washed out.

Trump and Morrison will participate in a day filled with meetings, a joint press conference and a lavish state dinner, the second one of Trump's presidency.

He also said the world is a better place with the USA, and that the two nations "see the world through the same lens".

Morrison has just arrived in the US and is taking part in a number of festivities over the course of his week-long visit - including a state dinner.

At an afternoon news conference in the grand East Room, Trump said he and the prime minister "talked about everything you can talk about", including military issues and trade. Morrison will also be treated to lunch at the State Department.

President Trump, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and guests will dine on Dover sole and summer squash as USA military bands fill the air with music in the green- and gold-themed Rose Garden Friday night - only the second state dinner of the Trump White House.
