"AC Milan announces the appointment with immediate effect of Mr Stefano Pioli as the new coach of the first team", the statement said.

Former Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli has been appointed coach of city rivals AC Milan, the Italian club confirmed on Wednesday.

Pioli's first aim will be to breathe life into a faltering Milan side, who are 10 points behind leaders Juventus after just seven matches and sit 13th in Serie A. "The Club is grateful to Marco for the work carried out and wishes him all the best to come in his professional career".

Further defeats against Torino and Fiorentina followed and, even though they stopped the rot with a 2-1 win over Genoa on Saturday, it proved to be the end for Giampaolo.

Titans release Cairo Santos, will reportedly sign Cody Parkey
As of right now it hasn't been released on who will be replacing Santos or David Quessenberry who was also released today. The last time that Parkey kicked in a game, it was the NFC Wild Card Game between the Bears and Philadelphia Eagles .

From there he spent two seasons with Fiorentina before resigning from La Viola in April 2019.

Milan only hired Giampaolo in the summer but parted company with the ex-Sampdoria manager following a hard start to the campaign, which saw them languishing in 13th place with four defeats from their opening seven matches.

Pioli becomes the seventh permanent manager at Milan since Massimiliano Allegri was sacked in January 2014 as the seven-time European champions have struggled for consistency over the past decade.

The club would have qualified for this year's Europa League but are now serving a one-year ban from European football over breaches of Financial Fair Play rules.
