Petr Cech: Premier League legend joins ice-hockey side Guildford

Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has embarked on a new career in ice hockey after signing for Guildford Phoenix.

'[Cech] will play as goalie for Guildford Phoenix, which is found shut to where he lives, ' Chelsea defined on their online net page.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Phoenix to get match experience", Cech, who will play as a goaltender, said in a statement on the club's website.

Cech retired from football after last season, having played at Arsenal since 2015 after previously spending 11 seasons with Chelsea.

Cech rejoined Chelsea after his retirement to take up the role of Technical Advisor.

"I hope I may also help this younger workforce to realize their objectives for the season and attempt to win as many video games as attainable when I've the prospect to play".

The former Czech Republic worldwide added he played the sport as a child and will not sacrifice his existing non-playing role in west London.

He said: "There are times when one ends up tired, exhausted by a myriad of circumstances". Many socios didn't want him back because of everything that had happened".

Guildford Phoenix play in the second tier of British ice hockey.

The Phoenix host Swindon Wildcats on Sunday.

The Pheonix head coach Andy Hemmings said: 'The signing of Petr is massive for the Pheonix.

"Some people seem to think I changed my job".

A four-time Premier League champion and a Champions League victor with Chelsea, Cech is the most-capped player in the Czech Republic's history, with 124 senior appearances.

Cech played 15 seasons in the Premier League, amassing a record 207 clean sheets in 443 games for the Blues and Gunners.
