At least 4 dead in NYC shooting

Four people were killed and three others were wounded in an early Saturday shooting at an illegal gambling club in New York City, police said. The ages of the deceased range from 32 years old to 49 years old.

Police said that the shooting took place at 74 Utica Avenue, in the Weeksville neighbourhood of Brooklyn.

According to Shea, evidence of gambling, including card playing, and two firearms were found at the scene.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said the three injured included two men and one women.

An NYPD spokesman said that police responding to a call about shots fired just before 7 am on Saturday found four men dead at the scene.

Police said that there have been no complaints in the last few years at this site in the Crown Heights neighborhood.

Authorities said the motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.

The victims' names have not been released but police say two of the victims are from out of state.

No one has been arrested over the shooting, which took place in Brooklyn, and the motive and exact circumstances are not known, a NY police official told AFP.

The preliminary investigation shows this incident was not gang-related.
