Ravens acquire Peters from Rams for Young

The Baltimore Ravens have traded for Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters.

FS1's Rob Parker first reported the deal, which the Ravens later confirmed.

The Rams acquired Peters in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs before the 2018 season and teamed him with veteran cornerback Aqib Talib, who was acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos.

Peters has 24 interceptions, returning four for touchdowns over 67 career games. He has a pair of interceptions in six starts this year.

Peters' future with the Rams, however, had been in doubt.

Talib was put on injured reserve Monday because of broken ribs suffered in the Rams' loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Peters has two interceptions and a touchdown so far this season.

Nickell Robey-Coleman and Troy Hill are listed as the top backup cornerbacks on the Rams depth chart. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Ravens also have Brandon Carr, Justin Bethel, Maurice Canady, Anthony Averett, and Cyrus Jones at the position. Peters is likely to replace one of them in the starting lineup.

Young was a fourth-round pick of the Ravens in 2018.

At 4-2, the Ravens hold a two-game edge over both the Steelers and the Browns, and this move figures to only make them stronger moving forward. Cornerback Jimmy Smith (knee) has missed the past five games, and nickelback Tavon Young (neck) is out for the season. The UCLA product has 64 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a pass breakup and two forced fumbles in the first 21 games of his National Football League career. Baltimore found a more willing trade partner in the Rams and didn't have to give up much (relative to what it would have taken to get Ramsey away from Jacksonville) to get one of the best young cornerbacks.
