Lionel Messi sets new Golden Shoe record

Consequently, Messi extended his own record and added another golden shoe achievement in his illustrious career.

The ceremony was attended by Messi's wife Antonella Roccuzzo and the award was handed to him by his children Thiago and Mateo.

"I have two years left on my contract and there is no better place to play than Barcelona, the best club in the world, but I need to play and not only enjoy walks around the city and the beach", he said recently.

"The Champions League is something special and we all want to win it, but we are conscious that the Liga is the most important".
