Nationals sweep to first World Series behind 7-run first

What: The St. Louis Cardinals visit the Washington Nationals in Game 4 of a best-of-seven National League Championship Series in the 2019 MLB playoffs.

The Astros lead the American League series 2-1. Houston now holds a 2-1 series lead over NY after its victory Tuesday.

Mid-fifth, the Nats lead the Cardinals 7-4.

Then on Friday, Oct. 25, for the first time since the Senators played the New York Giants in 1933, a World Series game will be played in Washington.

Hudson's start is the shortest in Cardinals' postseason history.

Hudson finished things with a flawless ninth, getting Tommy Edman on a fly ball to center field to end it, and red fireworks went off around the stadium.

Corbin is a power pitcher with high strikeout and walk totals, who has shown a propensity to allow hard contact when opposing batters can square him up.

There are parts of the deal Local 4 has not seen, but had previously been settled and might have changed in the final minutes. In past years, it's taken a minimum of three or four days and as long as several weeks for the national ratification vote.

Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson (0-1) recorded just one out, giving up seven runs (four earned) on five hits with one walk. The entire sequence was terrible for St. Louis.

After becoming comeback specialists, the Nationals never trailed against the Cardinals.

Corbin almost became the scapegoat in the NLDS, allowing six runs in relief to the Dodgers in a Game 3 loss, before Washington rallied to win the final two games in the series.

"We proved - and this doesn't require advanced sabermetrics", Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said, "you have to get a lead to win a game".

Cardinals: Their next game will come in spring training, an exhibition at home in Jupiter, Florida, on February 22.

Mayor Victorino congratulated Suzuki saying, "It's a dream for baseball players from Little League through the Major Leagues to play in the World Series, and that dream will come true for Kurt Suzuki". Games 3, 4 and, if necessary, 5 will be at Nationals Park.
