MIUI 11 roadmap revealed: What to know and when to expect it?

After numerous leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally pulled off the wraps from Redmi Note 8 Pro. "We are excited to launch Redmi Note 8 Pro which sets a benchmark for gaming and imaging with the world's first 64MP camera sensor and Helio G90T chipset", said Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has now been launched in India, featuring a 64 MP quad-camera setup.

The newly launched Redmi Note 8 Pro comes powered with MediaTek Helio G90T chipset along with Mali-G79 GPU for graphics.

The phone features a 6.53-inch Full HD+(2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution display flush with a waterdrop notch cutout on the front. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with a separate Game Turbo 2.0 mode. The primary 64 MP sensor comes with an f/1.7 aperture and 0.8-micrometer (μm) pixel that is touted to offer 34 percent more optical information than the 48-megapixel sensor.

The device comes with Amazon Alexa built-in. There's also liquid cooling for seemingly cooler extended gameplay. The main camera is paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide, 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

"Equipped with a 6.3" Dot Notch Display with Aura Fluid Design, the phone has a FHD+ display made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone comes with an option to expand the storage up to 512GB via MicroSD card. Other key features include a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, 4,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charger in the box and a dedicated microSD slot. Other camera sensors that the phone will offer are 8MP ultra-wide lens and 2MP camera sensors. In the camera department, it uses a 20MP pop-up front camera. It is worth noting that the K20 Pro supports NFC. On the front, the smartphone features a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

The phone runs on Android 9 based on MIUI 10 and comes packed with 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charge support. The connectivity features are Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou, USB Type-C and 3.5mm headphone jack.

On paper, the Redmi Note 8 Pro looks like a massive upgrade to the previous generation, which was already an excellent smartphone for its price.

MIUI 11 brings new optimizations and changes to the custom ROM.

MIUI 11 also updates the native Mi Calculator app, which can now be used in a floating window for improved multitasking.

Xiaomi also announced the Mint Keyboard for MIUI users, which supports over 25 Indian languages now. Xiaomi is also bringing video wallpapers with MIUI 11. Starting today, it will be available on its website, e-commerce sites Flipkart, Amazon and in offline stores including Mi Homes.
