Kanye West announces he's a 'converted Christian' during album listening party

A few weeks ago, it looked like Kanye West's new album, Jesus Is King, was actually close to coming out after he held multiple parties where he played an unfinished version of it.

The slightly more than one minute long trailer doesn't give much away.

West hasn't announced a new release date for his ninth album, but some of his new songs will be featured in the film, which was shot over the summer in artist James Turrell's Roden Crater in Arizona. The trailer concludes with a Bible verse, Mark 1:15, which says, "In the words of Jesus Christ, 'The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel". The characterize modified into initially due out September 27, and modified into then pushed to September 29, but it never arrived, to fans' consternation and disappointment. The album was due to be released in September according to a post by his wife, Kim but the day came and went with no new music by the controversial star.

This is the first time Chicago-born West has taken his spiritual experience outside of the country.

IMAX captioned, This one-of-a-kind experience features new music from his upcoming album. The pastor who has been working with the famed rapper said West told him he was "radically saved" earlier this year. "This album is an expression of the gospel".

Locked in to a partnership with IMAX, the film will be available in cinemas globally on October 25th and November 8th in select cities.
