What to expect from Mad Max? World Series goes to Game 7

Move over, Don Denkinger, you've got company when it comes to the most controversial umpiring calls in the Fall Classic.

The Nationals wound up taking a 5-2 lead on a two-run homer by Rendon off reliever Will Harris. The Astros will send Zack Greinke to the mound as they look to win their second title in three seasons. Nothing has really changed other than the pressure we've been able to apply to these guys.

Yet the most credit goes to the Astros' pitchers.

As for those 1980 Phillies, who beat the Kansas City Royals in six games, their five starters were Bob Walk, Steve Carlton, Dick Ruthven, Larry Christenson and Marty Bystrom. "That happened to us against the Cubs [in the 2017 National League Division Series]".

Martinez is the first manager to be ejected from a World Series game since Atlanta's Bobby Cox in 1996.

Houston trashed Washington 7-1 on Sunday night, as Gerrit Cole rebounded from a hard Game 1 in style to deliver a dominant performance. Scherzer hoped to be available for a Game 7 if Washington tied the series Tuesday night. Thanks to Strasburg, that's now possible. He is 5-0 with a 1.54 ERA, striking out 52 and walking only four over 35 innings in that streak.

Under MLB rules, the World Series team with the better regular-season record earns home-field advantage. Josh Reddick said the 8-1 Astros win in Game 4 provided a wake-up call that the bats were alive. Scherzer said the cortisone shot he received worked, making him well enough to make the start on Wednesday night with everything on the line.

An important note, however, is that at least one elimination game - which you might expect to bring higher viewership - is yet to come.

The wild-card Nationals, trying to rewrite franchise history with their first championship.

Why flip the bat when you can carry it? We'll see what transpires between now and tonight. The ball hit Turner and rolled into foul territory as Houston first baseman Yuli Gurriel lost his glove, and it appeared the Nationals would have men on second and third with none out.

He made a decision to troll Bregman by brining his bat to first base as well. Eaton and Juan Soto each belted solo homers to stun the crowd and give the Nats a 3-2 lead. He wouldn't allow another run the rest of the way, pitching into the ninth inning. Evidently Bregman's not the only one capable of handling elite pitchers. Instead of two runners on and none out, the Nationals had one on and one out. The Nationals, desperate to take an early lead, did just that when Trea Turner legged out an infield single (with help from instant replay), took second on an Adam Eaton sacrifice bunt (sigh) and scored on Anthony Rendon's two-strike RBI single through the open right side of the infield. Finally, some breathing room for the Nationals.

It would cost Washington a run when Rendon smashed a homer to left field.

After scoring 17 runs in the first games - games started by Gerrit Cole and Verlander - the Nationals have managed to just score 3 total runs in the past three games.
