Tottenham will rally round Son Heung-min as the "broken" South Korea midfielder tries to come to terms with the horrendous injury suffered by Everton's Andre Gomes after his challenge at Goodison Park.

Gomes is expected to be sidelined for anywhere between six months and a year given the seriousness of the injury, which left players from both sides visibly upset on the pitch at Goodison Park.

"He is all our friend and our team-mate so we are all gutted and wishing him the best". I want to send Andre my best wishes.

"Sonny is devastated and in tears". It's not his fault.

Silva was far happier with the resolve his team showed to temporarily cast their distress for Gomes to one side and battle back: "It's a tough moment for us in our dressing room, but the spirit we showed after that moment on the pitch is a good answer for you", he said.

Everton issued a statement after the match indicating that Gomes will undergo surgery on his ankle on Monday, Nov. 4.

After the game the Premier League released a statement that said: "The red card for Son was for endangering the safety of a player which happened as a outcome of his initial challenge".

"The Portugal global, who sustained the injury in yesterday's Premier League fixture with Tottenham, will now spend some time recovering in hospital, before returning to USM Finch Farm [Everton's training ground] to start his rehabilitation under the guidance of the club's medical staff. After undergoing hospital tests, it was confirmed he had suffered a fracture dislocation to his right ankle".

Tosun, who scored an equaliser for the Toffees late in injury time, was heartbroken about the earlier incident and said it deeply affected everyone on the pitch.

The hosts pushed for the equalizer after Son's sending off and it came in the 97th minute, when Tosun headed in from close range after Lucas Digne crossed.

It was a freakish end to a game, and the result did little to lift the gloom around either club.

Everton are in 17th spot, three points above the drop zone, after only one win in their last seven league matches. If you can talk about the game, because it's the most important thing even if this afternoon was really tough to play because of many, many stops which didn't help the game at all.

It was a confusing situation all round as Son's attempted tackle made minimal contact with Gomes but the Portuguese midfielder then landed off balance at speed.
