Facebook intros new company logo to differentiate company from apps

Social media site Facebook has introduced a new company logo to make a visual distinction between the parent company and its app.

The logo, which just features "Facebook" in a simple sans serif font, was presented in a multi-colour gif representing each product - blue for Facebook, pink for Instagram, green for Whatsapp and so on.

The efforts come at a time when Facebook and other tech companies are facing heightened antitrust scrutiny.

More recently, they collectively flew off the handle when several outlets reported that Facebook's new News tab included articles from Breitbart, a conservative outlet once run by former Trump campaign strategist Steve Bannon. "We think though, we always have been and always will be Facebook".

One crisis management expert said the parent company may hope to lean into the stronger reputations of its non-Facebook platforms to improve its public perception. "But we believe people should, because it's important for people to know who's behind the products they use".

It can also be a way to feed its ego as there were reports that Mark Zuckerberg was unsatisfied with the credit Facebook got for owning Instagram and WhatsApp because most people were not aware.
