Now they've lost right tackle Rick Wagner and running back Ty Johnson to brain injuries during the first half of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

According to Schefter, some people are telling him not to play because of a back injury, "but he is hoping to try to play through the pain". The backup QB is Jeff Driskel. He signed with the Lions in September. The 31-year-old passer had started 136 regular-season games for Detroit before he was ruled out for the team's Week 10 game in Chicago. I'm not really anxious about it.

Stafford has started every game over the last eight-plus seasons, since missing most of the 2010 season with a shoulder injury.

November 6: Stafford tells reporters he's "fine" and will be "good to go" against the Bears despite pain in his back.

His streak of 136 consecutive starts is second only to Philip Rivers (218 starts) among quarterbacks, and it's something he's taken huge pride in. "I just want to be out there for the guys". I was actually texting Matt (Ryan) last week trying to figure out if he was going to go or not.

Stafford had been playing through pain in his back all season thanks to an injury that reportedly bothered him a year ago, too.

The hits just keep coming for the Detroit Lions.
