Lions' Stafford (back/hip) won't play vs. Bears

Now they've lost right tackle Rick Wagner and running back Ty Johnson to brain injuries during the first half of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

According to Schefter, some people are telling him not to play because of a back injury, "but he is hoping to try to play through the pain". The backup QB is Jeff Driskel. He signed with the Lions in September. The 31-year-old passer had started 136 regular-season games for Detroit before he was ruled out for the team's Week 10 game in Chicago. I'm not really anxious about it.

Stafford has started every game over the last eight-plus seasons, since missing most of the 2010 season with a shoulder injury.

Stafford had been playing through pain in his back all season thanks to an injury that reportedly bothered him a year ago, too.
