Trump Pleased With Jeff Sessions Praise But Remains Uninvolved

A giant Baby Trump protest balloon was knifed and deflated by someone unhappy with its appearance during the USA president's trip to Alabama, organisers said.

Robert Kennedy, a volunteer "baby sitter" who brought the balloon to Tuscaloosa, said the balloon immediately began to sag after it was cut.

At the game, Mr. Trump sat in a box with first lady Melania Trump and several prominent Alabama lawmakers, including Senator Richard Shelby and Congressman Bradley Byrne.

There was little sign of political sentiment on campus but plenty of bipartisan grumbling about the long lines to get in due to enhanced security.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump flew in to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to attend the University of Alabama v. Louisiana State University football game Saturday afternoon. The Times noted that Sessions runs the risk of reigniting attacks from the President who still begrudges him for his Russian Federation probe recusal, which eventually forced Sessions to resign. One woman wore an oversized red MAGA hat and carried a sign saying: "Make BAMA #1 Again". That greeting was warmer than the one Trump received at the World Series at Nationals Park, when he was roundly booed and became the target of a "Lock him up!" chant.

He's headed to friendlier turf for Saturday's big game.

Still, even in Alabama, where he won 63% of the vote in 2016, the president generated some controversy.

Ahead of Trump's visit to Alabama's campus, a message was sent by a school official, warning that anybody sitting in the student section would be instantly "removed" if they exhibited any "disruptive behavior, according to the Washington Post".

During a White House pool spray Friday morning, Trump said that he hadn't "gotten involved" with Sessions' Senate run, but that he saw the "very nice things" he said during his Thursday night interview with Carlson.

"Well I hope so, I think he will respect my work", Sessions said, before mentioning that he pushed Trump's immigration, trade and foreign policy agenda.
