Berhow initially survived his self-inflicted gunshot wound but died at a local hospital on 3:32 p.m. on Friday, according to the sheriff's department.

Berhow, a junior at the high school who officials said carried out the attack on his 16th birthay, had been hospitalized in critical condition since Thursday morning's shooting.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office identified the victims on Friday as 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell and 15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger.

Doctors say two girls who were injured are expected to recover and be released soon from a hospital. Another 14-year-old boy wounded in the shooting was treated at a hospital and released on Thursday.

"We did not find any manifesto, any diary that spelled it out", Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at a briefing.

Authorities say a 16-year-old student opened fire before shooting himself.

"We know it was a planned attack, it was deliberate".

When he coached the Boston Bruins, Don Cherry always said he didn't worry because he had Bobby Orr on his bench. Honestly, I hope Sportsnet feels the sting of cancel culture karma for a long while.

There was also no history of the teen being bullied.

It was at least the seventh shooting of the school season, according to a Washington Post analysis - a familiar tragedy as data shows more than 230,000 children have experienced gun violence at their schools since 1999′s massacre at Columbine High.

"It wasn't a spur-of-the-moment act", Villanueva said.

"She will never get to drive a auto, fall in love, build a career, get married, have children and do all the other things everyone takes for granted in this short thing called life", they said.

The names of the wounded were not released. He was described as a quiet and smart student who was on the honor roll. With this boy, investigators have found "nothing out of the ordinary".

Saugus High School has 2,385 students enrolled in grades nine through 12 for the 2019-20 school year.

Since the shooting, authorities have accumulated more information on the alleged shooter. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is working with police to determine where Berhow got the handgun used in the attack. Police said they found several firearms at Berhow's home and some were unregistered.
