Mandzukic has not featured for Juve this season, and was not registered for the club's 2019/20 UEFA Champions League squad.

Manchester United have been left short on options up front this season after they opted to let both Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku leave Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old has been frozen out at Juventus in recent months, and has reportedly asked the Bianconeri to grant him permission to join United before the transfer window opens.

Mandzukic has proved his worth over the years.

It was reported in October that Mandzukic was no longer training with his team-mates at Juventus, due to an agreement he has with Sarri.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has recently been spotted in Manchester as he looks to try and thrash out a January deal.

United are desperate for depth in attack with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial the only recognised senior strikers.

Mandzukic would bring a wealth of experience to the United team, having played Champions League football for Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, as well as scoring in the 2018 World Cup final for Croatia.

Manchester United could get their wish of signing a prolific goal scorer in January realized after the Croatian striker declared his interest in joining the Red Devils.
