IPL: Mumbai Indians Retain Core, Chennai Super Kings Release 5 Players

Kings XI Punjab has traded Ankit Rajpoot with Rajasthan Royals for Krishnappa Gowtham.

With the auctions slated to take place in Kolkata on December 19, Royals were quick to latch on to the conversation as they hit back tweeting: "Ummm, are you up for trading Virat & AB?"

Among the released players are Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff and Alzarri Joseph of West Indies, New Zealand's Adam Milne, Beuran Hendricks and Ben Cutting.

Chennai Expansive Kings retained players: MS Dhoni (captain & WK), Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Murali Vijay, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Rituraj Gaikwad, Dwayne Bravo, Karn Sharma, Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, Okay M Asif, David Willey, Deepak Chahar, N Jagadeesan (wk).

Royals announced that they would retain 11 and release 11 players. "We do believe that we have retained players who make our side a very formidable one going into the next season, and we will only get stronger and better from hereon", said Delhi Capitals CEO Dhiraj Malhotra in a press release. This has enabled CSK to have a purse of Rs 14.6 crore in the upcoming auction.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have already made a couple of high-profile trades with ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin coming from Kings XI Punjab and Rahane jumping ship from Rajasthan Royals.
