In the letter addressed to general manager Brad Treliving, which was released to multiple news outlets Wednesday night, Peters called the incident isolated but accepted responsibility for what he said.

While technically still the head coach, it doesn't look like Peters will be behind the Flames' bench any time soon.

The Flames announced Tuesday evening that Peters wouldn't coach Wednesday's after former player Akim Aliu alleged Peters made racist comments toward him while the two were with the Rockford IceHogs - Peters as coach and Aliu as a rookie player - during the 2009-2010 season.

"I don't have any comment about that, I'm just here to talk about hockey", Ward said.

Peters is still employed by the team, but will not be behind the bench when the Flames visit the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.

Brind'Amour spoke to reporters before the Hurricanes game in NY against the Rangers. This letter is meant to do exactly that; I hope it is accepted as intended.

Aliu has not responded to interview requests from The Canadian Press.

TikTok has said that it stores such information in Virginia and Singapore. "I want the Uyghurs to get attention", Feroza says. She said she felt the block by TikTok was a disproportionate reaction to what she considered a harmless joke.

The original tweet did not name Peters, but referred to a "protege" of fired Toronto coach Mike Babcock's who is now in Calgary.

In his letter to Treliving, Peters wrote that he is fully supportive of the team investigation, calling it "the right thing to do".

Flames GM Treliving is overseeing the investigation into Peters, and on Tuesday said he's spoken to the coach and Aliu plus many others. We take these matters very, very seriously'. 'And obviously, we're playing, so I haven't had the chance to sit down with Bill or our people internally to talk about this and get to the bottom of it.

The statement was made in a moment of frustration and does not reflect my personal values.

According to the NHL Constitution, as Friedman mentions, the league has the power to expel or suspend Peters for a definite or indefinite period if he is found guilty of any "conduct detrimental to the League or the game of hockey". Aliu played last season with the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL and is now a free agent. Aliu also appeared in 13 games for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye in '09-10. Aliu, who was born in Africa but raised in Ukraine and Canada, later played seven National Hockey League games over two seasons with Calgary.

Peters previously coached in Carolina from 2014 until 2018, but failed to make the playoffs in his four seasons at the helm.
