The Importance of Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday in downtown Rochester Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Local businesses are the cornerstone of a strong community.

Wessley says almost 200 businesses will be participating. When you #ShopSmall, you make a big impact on us and our whole community. Because shopping locally is paramount, we implore shoppers to shop locally.

While many people are looking ahead to Black Friday, local business owners are reminding the community of a new event called "Shop Small Bako".

Small Business Saturday began in 2010 as an initiative of American Express to support small businesses during the Great Recession. We'll have extended hours at both shops from 10am-8pm. If you're out shopping this weekend, remember that shopping locally offers benefits you can't get online, including customer service and the ability to see, touch and try on merchandise before purchasing it. Did you know there are around 30 million small businesses in the country?

"There's a lot of things still yet to be made for this holiday season, so critical for us to have the small business support, and to have folks put those dollars into our business and others", Nick said. Look no further for your holiday finds than Downtown Ferndale and the awesome Livernois, Hilton, and Iron Ridge business districts.

Past year alone, 108 million shoppers spent $12.9 billion at small businesses, according to the 2018 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey. It's a nice way to do your holiday shopping for everyone on your list, and maybe get a little something for yourself too, all the while supporting the local economy.

Keauhou Shopping Center is hosting Small Business Saturday from 10 6 p.m. on November 30.

Shopping will come with a side of entertainment throughout the day including performances by Mauka Soul, Ben Kaili, Heavenly Hula and the Hawai'i County Band.
