The performance allowed the Chiefs (8-4) to take a commanding two-game lead in the division with four games to play (with a sweep of the Raiders, giving them the head-to-head tiebreaker). Oakland had just 208 yards for the game, with Derek Carr being pulled in the second half due to the lopsided nature of the contest.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense were not in explosive form, but Mahomes threw one touchdown and ran for one more in a 175-yard passing day.

Oakland started with the ball, and the drive the tone for their day.

Who were the Winners and Losers for the Raiders against the Chiefs? Thornhill also stuffed a Raiders fourth-and-short play in the second quarter by tackling wide receiver Trevor Davis. The Raiders are exceeding expectations, sitting just a game back of Kansas City in the standings.

A lot went wrong during the Chiefs' blowout 40-9 victory over the Raiders on Sunday, and Gruden didn't try to hide his disgust at the penalties, turnovers and a bad field-goal attempt.

Watford sack Sanchez Flores after just 3 months
Flores was previously in charge of the club during the 2015-16 season, after which he was surprisingly sacked. Flores' only other victory in his 12 matches at the club was against Swansea in the Carabao Cup.

Oakland had a strong first quarter from running back Josh Jacobs (eight carries for 55 yards), but three first half turnovers doomed the Raiders.

In the second half, the Chiefs continued to control the game and Harrison Butker added a 50-yard field goal to extend the lead to 24-0. Fortunately, the Chiefs were able to compensate on defense, intercepting Philip Rivers four times in the win.

From there, LeSean McCoy strolled in for an easy score. The fact that the Kansas City offense didn't take full advantage of their opportunities and could have scored more shows that there's still room for growth. But very few expected the Oakland Raiders to be right there with the Chiefs.

The win provided the Chiefs momentum heading into Week 14's matchup against their AFC nemesis, the New England Patriots, next Sunday afternoon at Foxboro Stadium.
