When asked if she could name a Van Halen, she looked puzzled and responded, "Who?" Kimmel asked the Grammy nominee.

Wolfgang Van Halen has diffused a heated Internet argument involving an unlikely musical pairing: the bassist's own band, Van Halen, and chart-topping pop star Billie Eilish.

Billie Eilish appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a couple weeks back, but a short clip from her interview is only going viral now - the clip in which she reveals she doesn't know who Van Halen is.

Some began to criticise Billie for not having knowledge of a band as big as Van Halen, regardless of her age.

Rantanen returns to the lineup, passing Avalanche 7: 3 past Chicago
Rantanen had a goal and three assists when he returned to the Colorado lineup after 16 injury-related defeats. The ferocious speed of the Avalanche wore down the Blackhawks and dismantled their defensive zone coverage.

Soon, nearly every Twitter user over the age of 30's head exploded, with some arguing musicians of any age should know their music history. As Billie Eilish is now 17, he chose to quiz her on what she knew from that era. Jimmy then starts listing the stars of 1984, seeing if she knows them.

Should music prodigy Billie Eilish be ashamed for not knowing who Van Halen is? And for what it's worth, he doesn't care if Eilish knows his band or not.

"I know u guys think that this is ok and I get it but...cmon girl it's VAN HALEN". Van Halen were a band who were on top of the world when they first emerged, but who made crotch-thrusting party rock more than anything else. While interviewing the singer on his show last week, he took a break for a segment in which he ran through a list of things that preceded her birth and inquired whether she was familiar with them. "Listen to what you want and don't shame others for not knowing what you like".
