Halo: The Master Chief Collection is live now on Steam for $40/£30/€40, or you can go for Halo: Reach by itself (it's currently the only game in the collection that's been released) for $10/£7/€10.

The full Master Chief Collection and Reach by itself are now the number one and two sellers on Steam, and the MCC is now the top game on Twitch, buoyed by broadcasts from popular streamers like DrDisrespect, xQc, tyler1, and summit. It'll also include crossplay between the Steam and Windows versions of the game. Halo Reach Steam players will be able to play against Windows Store players.

Master Chief is back on PCs. While only two of the games were available on PC, many of them were exclusive to the Xbox. The Halo: MCC anthology is now priced at $39.99 on both Steam and the Microsoft Store, and developers 343 Industries is expected to release PC ports of Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 over the course of 2020.

For gamers who already own the Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, you will need to pay for the Halo Reach add-on if you want to play the campaign. "This will allow you to play around with campaign and customs but not allow you to play any match made games".

Microsoft announced the full release today, confirming all the different ways you can play it in the process.

The multiplayer components of Halo: Reach, including PVP modes, Forge, and Theatre, are automatically included as part of the base content of the collection for free.

If you're new to the collection, you can obtain the entire collection through Xbox Game Pass for Console or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or buy it through the Microsoft Store for $39.99/£29.99. Even the game didn't get the proper remaster treatment like Halo 2 did a couple of years ago, the PC version supports 4K UHD graphics and lots of customization options.
