But unfortunately, Schwartz has struggled to make a consistent impact for Philadelphia's defense over the last two seasons, and the team's most recent loss in Miami just added to the list of reasons as to why the Eagles should consider letting him go.

It didn't take long for many fans and analysts to predict that Rivera will be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys, who are now in first place of the woeful NFC East.

Panthers secondary coach Perry Fewell has been named the Panthers' interim head coach. OC Norv Turner will transition to special assistant to the head coach, and QB coach Scott Turner will serve as offensive coordinator.

If you were looking for the dark horse candidate for the Panthers' head coaching position, you could probably do a lot worse than Nick Sirianni.

Rivera went 76-63-1 during his 8-plus years with Carolina. To this point in 2019, the team is 5-7 and has lost four straight. Shortly after news of Rivera's firing broke, Cam Newton, the Panthers' starting quarterback for each of Rivera's nine seasons with the organization, reacted to the news via his Instagram account.

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker wanted game-winner vs. 49ers to be longer
The Baltimore Ravens tied the game at seven later in the first quarter on a Lamar Jackson 20-yard touchdown pass to Mark Andrews . So chances are good that the Saints will be able to (temporarily) grab the top seed in the NFC playoffs picture after this game.

But Tepper has owned the franchise for 18 months, and it's his prerogative to have "his" guy in the head coaching job.

Tepper said the team will hire an assistant general manager and vice president of football operations.

"Charlotte is a place I know people know me". The reasons for this are pretty obvious - his Oklahoma teams have been one of the best, most balanced college offenses in recent memory in each of his three years in charge and he has done this with three different quarterbacks, all of whom had failed to play to the same standard with other programs previously. I wish him the best.

Rivera was hired in 2011 following tenures as defensive coordinator in Chicago (2004-06) and San Diego (2008-10). The 57-year old was a linebacker in the National Football League for nine years in Chicago (1984-92), including playing on the legendary 1985 Bears defense. He and his wife Stephanie became integral members of the community and spent time supporting a variety of causes.
