Liverpool quartet will face Aston Villa before joining Club World Cup squad

The Reds' first game in the tournament is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18, less than 24 hours after their Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa at Anfield.

Liverpool have confirmed their 23-man squad for the forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar later this month.

As such, Klopp previously stated he would have to name two separate squads for the matches.

Liverpool have a packed December schedule due to their involvement in the Club World Cup but Virgil van Dijk is determined to win more silverware.

Chances are, Williams, Jones, Elliott and Brewster won't play in Qatar, but it is a nice touch from Klopp.

Klopp's side will play at Villa on 17 December at 19:45 GMT and will compete in the Club World Cup semi-final in Qatar the following day at 17:30 GMT.

The club announced they will use two different squads with the Villa tie on December 17 and the semifinal in Qatar the following day.

Centre-back Joel Matip and midfielder Fabinho are both injured and have not been included in the Club World Cup squad.

Neco Williams, who made his debut in Liverpool's last League Cup match against Arsenal, is also named in the Club World Cup squad.
