Adam Sandler has made a name for himself in his postSaturday night live career making wonderful stoner movies in the 1990s as Billy Madison and Happy gilmore before moving on to less than spectacular efforts like The ridiculous 6 and Jack and jill.

Says Sandler: "The Safdie Brothers and everybody worked so hard on the movie that I didn't want to do what I usually do and just go, 'Eh, I can't help you out there'".

Even without the movie role, it looks like he may have made friends with Sandler, who wore a "Trust The Process" Under Armour sweatshirt this week during an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show". "I do know it wasn't Lorne [Michael's] choice".

"At the time, I was hurt because I didn't know what else I was going to do", Sandler told Stern, revealing that the sacking didn't come from series creator Lorne Michaels.

Meanwhile, Rob Schneider and David Spade are waiting on standby, just in case.

So much time has passed, not everyone remembers that both Sandler and Farley (who died in 1997) didn't quit - they were fired. "They needed to do away with me a while".

Along with a moving musical performance in honor of Farley during his opening monologue in May, Sandler also pulled off a hilarious song called "I Was Fired" to poke fun at his old job.

But the Toffees have rewarded him with a new deal after his impressive start to life at Goodison Park. The Red Devils were reportedly eyeing a move for the 22-year-old in January.

"I used to be in all probability unhappy into protecting up the unhappiness with being mad and saying 'f-k you blah, blah, blah, '" recalled the comic.

Sandler noted that becoming fired "put a lump in my throat".

Sandler described his state of mind at the time.

Stern then suggested that Sandler campaign for an Oscar nomination, even though he usually avoids the media.

"And then I was like 'Yeah, I'll think about it, and he's like, 'I think you thought about it, ' " Sandler added.

Sandler has already run the lead in the Oscar race after the National Review Board named him Best Actor.

Sandler will subsequent be seen in "Uncut Gems", a drama a few jeweler-turned-gambler that upends his life in pursuit of a giant win.

"If I don't understand, I'm going back and doing one that is so bad on goal just for everyone to pay", Sandler joked.
