Kiffin comes to Oxford from Florida Atlantic University where his teams won two Conference USA titles in his three seasons as head coach. The head coach is heading back to the SEC. The news comes following FAU's blowout win in the C-USA Championship Game.

As reported by ESPN Friday night, Ole Miss was in the midst of finalizing a deal with Kiffin.

After FAU's win over the UAB Blazers 49-6 in the Conference USA championship game, the University of MS officially announced that Lane Kiffin will be their new head coach.

He's 61-34 in parts of eight seasons as a college head coach at Tennessee, USC and FAU. "As we entered this process, we were looking for energy, innovativeness and a program builder who could excite our student-athletes and fans".

MI and Kentucky both rank inside this week's latest AP Top 25 rankings, with MI at No. 4 and Kentucky at No. 8. MI and Kentucky last played in the Elite Eight of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, with the Wildcats winning 75-72.

If you've tracked the career of Kiffin, you'd realize that he has had mixed results, but has coached at every level.

Kiffin was also recently linked to the opening at Arkansas after they fired coach Chad Morris earlier in the season.

"I am truly honored and humbled to join the Ole Miss family, and recognize this as a special opportunity to lead Rebel Football into the future", Kiffin said in a statement.

An official press conference is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m.
