CDC reveals pot vape brands reported in United States outbreak

Health officials investigating a nationwide outbreak of vaping illnesses have listed, for the first time, the vape brands most commonly linked to hospitalizations.

A report released Thursday, which includes data based on interviews with patients conducted through November 22, identified five probable cases in which patients had vaped only THC products, purchased from a licensed MA marijuana dispensary.

Last month, USA officials reported the discovery of Vitamin E acetate - believed to be used as a cutting agent in illicit vaping products containing marijuana components - in all lung samples from 29 patients.

Dank Vapes was the brand used by 56% of the hospitalized patients nationwide.

Other product names on the head of the checklist from CDC had been TKO (15%), Trim Cart (13%) and Rove (12%). However, a separate quarantine of most marijuana vapes instituted by the Cannabis Control Commission, which has sole authority over the state's marijuana industry, may remain in effect as long as that commission deems it necessary for public health. Illicit dealers have been flooding the market with counterfeits of the legal brands, forcing some legitimate dealers to redesign their packaging, according to the Associated Press.

The CDC also said Friday that the worst of the outbreak may be over.

Investigators want more data until they feel certain the outbreak is waning. Every remark has reported cases, and 25 states and the District of Columbia devour reported a total of 48 deaths.
